We’re supporting a growing environmental consultancy looking for a Flood Risk & Drainage Consultant to join their Water Environment team. This is a chance to take ownership of meaningful pre-planning water environment projects across residential, utilities and renewable energy.
You'll be joining a close-knit, supportive team who genuinely care about delivering sustainable, pragmatic solutions—not box-ticking. Their leadership is focused on creating an environment where you’ll feel valued, empowered and able to shape how the team works.
You'll play a key part in delivering Flood Risk & Drainage consultancy across a range of UK development projects. This includes working on:
Flood Risk Assessments
Drainage Impact Assessments
Sustainable Drainage Strategies
Hydrological studies
You’ll work alongside specialists in flood risk, hydrology, ecology and construction to deliver high-quality, coordinated outputs for clients.
Produce hydrological assessments, Sustainable Drainage Strategies and Flood Risk Assessments
Ensure work meets national & local policy, legislation and best practice
Contribute to quality assurance and check technical deliverables
Undertake site visits to collect flood risk and drainage data
Engage with key regulators and stakeholders (EA, SEPA, LLFAs, IDBs, Sewerage Undertakers)
Attend design team meetings and provide clear consultancy advice
Work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams
Support the preparation of proposals, tenders and bids
Degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering or similar
2+ years’ experience in drainage, surface water management or flood risk
Background working in the private/public sector (EA, LLFA, IDB etc.)
Strong knowledge of SuDS, flood risk policy and drainage legislation
Experience producing FRAs, DFRAs, FCAs or Drainage Strategies for planning
Confident writing technical & non-technical reports
Experience with InfoDrainage, Causeway Flow and/or AutoCAD
Strong communication skills
Full UK driving licence
A genuine passion for drainage, sustainability and the water environment
