Location: London (Hybrid Available)
Salary: £38,000 - £45,000 DOE
£1,500 Placement Bonus if referred by Talent Torch

The Role
We are seeking an ambitious Associate Planner to take a leadership role in planning projects across London. You will be managing a mix of planning applications and appeals while developing your technical, mentoring, and project management skills. Key responsibilities include:
- Lead and coordinate planning applications and projects.
- Assist Regional and Associate Directors in developing team competencies.
- Prepare and submit planning applications, local plan representations, and planning appeals.
- Undertake site inspections and assess proposal merits.
- Provide guidance to engineers/architects on drawings and supplementary planning information.
- Project manage medium-scale or complex projects, including day-to-day team wellbeing and resources.
- Liaise with clients, prepare fee proposals, and undertake policy research.
- Provide fee control, technical direction, and manage senior client relationships.
- Negotiate business terms with awareness of legal and contractual aspects.
- Generate workload through market understanding and proactive project proposals.
- Implement innovative methods to enhance project outcomes.
- Maintain CPD and mentor junior colleagues.
- Expand networks and foster relationships with local authorities, clients, contractors, and internal colleagues.
- Deliver persuasive presentations and act as an ambassador for excellent client service.
- Manage section or project budgets, including WIP (work in progress).
Candidate Profile
- RTPI-accredited degree or Masters in a relevant discipline.
- Chartered RTPI membership preferred, or working towards it.
- Minimum two years’ post-qualification experience in a planning role.
- At least two years’ experience within the planning industry (public or private sector).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong client liaison and negotiation abilities.
- Project management experience with strong report writing skills.
- Advanced understanding of the UK planning system
