Our client is a well-established ecological consultancy, providing specialist services in ecology, habitat restoration, biodiversity assessments, and protected species licensing. They deliver high-quality ecological solutions for a variety of clients, including water utilities, regulatory authorities, and landowners.

The team works on major water and infrastructure projects, including river corridor assessments, habitat enhancement, and biodiversity net gain (BNG) delivery. The Role
We are seeking a Senior Ecologist with experience in water-linked infrastructure and conservation projects to take on a leadership role. You will lead projects, mentor junior ecologists, and deliver high-quality ecological consultancy services in complex environments.

What You’ll Do

• Lead & Mentor: Support and develop junior ecologists, fostering professional growth and high standards.

• Conduct Advanced Surveys: Oversee complex ecological surveys, ensuring best practices and compliance with regulations.

• Project Management: Lead multiple ecological projects, delivering high-quality outputs and ensuring client satisfaction.

• Client Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, identifying new opportunities and delivering tailored ecological solutions.

• Ensure Compliance: Ensure all projects meet environmental legislation and industry standards.

• Team Collaboration: Work closely with cross-disciplinary teams to deliver integrated services and drive innovation in ecological practice.

What We’re Looking For
Essential:

• A degree in ecology or a related field.

• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in consultancy, with a focus on water-related ecological projects.

• Strong understanding of UKHab classification, Biodiversity Net Gain, and experience in protected species licensing.

• Proven leadership in managing projects and mentoring staff.

• Full UK driving license and willingness to travel for fieldwork.
