About the Company

Under the guidance of a new leadership team, they’re building a culture where you’ll feel supported, valued, and empowered to help shape how they work and grow.

The Role

As a Peatland Hydrology Senior Consultant, you’ll be at the forefront of sustainable land and water management, leading surveys and assessments that support peatland restoration, planning, and environmental impact.

You’ll play a key role in both fieldwork and office-based analysis, balancing hands-on surveys across rural Scotland with high-quality deliverables that contribute to national climate and conservation efforts.

This is a great fit for someone who brings deep peatland knowledge, thrives in a mix of field and consultancy settings, and is ready to take the lead on technically complex, multidisciplinary projects.

  • Independently scope, plan, and carry out peatland hydrology site visits.

  • Lead the production of:

    • Peat Management Plans

    • Restoration feasibility studies and designs

    • Private Water Supply (PWS), GWDTE and PLHRA assessments

    • EIAR chapters on Hydrology, Hydrogeology, and Soils

  • Maintain expertise in relevant policy and frameworks, including the Peatland Code and Peatland ACTION.

  • Consult with stakeholders such as SEPA and the Environment Agency.

  • Collaborate with teams across drainage, flood risk, ecology, aquatics, and construction disciplines.

  • Contribute to proposals, bids, and tenders.

What We’re Looking For

  • 3–5+ years’ experience in peatland hydrology consultancy.

  • Strong fieldwork skills and high standards for health & safety.

  • Degree in a relevant environmental subject.

  • Working knowledge of the Peatland Code and Peatland ACTION framework.

  • Experience in peatland survey, assessment, and restoration planning.

  • Clear, confident written and verbal communication.

  • Membership of a relevant professional body (working towards chartered status).

  • Full UK driving licence.

What’s on Offer?

  • 20 days per annum CPD

  • Paid Professional Membership

  • 25 days annual leave + 9 Scottish bank holidays (increases with service)

  • Flexible TOIL / Balancing Hours Policy

  • Private Healthcare Plan

  • Company Pension Contribution

  • Hybrid Working

  • Relocation package (within the UK) available for the right candidate
