As a Peatland Hydrology Senior Consultant, you’ll be at the forefront of sustainable land and water management, leading surveys and assessments that support peatland restoration, planning, and environmental impact.
You’ll play a key role in both fieldwork and office-based analysis, balancing hands-on surveys across rural Scotland with high-quality deliverables that contribute to national climate and conservation efforts.
This is a great fit for someone who brings deep peatland knowledge, thrives in a mix of field and consultancy settings, and is ready to take the lead on technically complex, multidisciplinary projects.
Independently scope, plan, and carry out peatland hydrology site visits.
Lead the production of:
Peat Management Plans
Restoration feasibility studies and designs
Private Water Supply (PWS), GWDTE and PLHRA assessments
EIAR chapters on Hydrology, Hydrogeology, and Soils
Maintain expertise in relevant policy and frameworks, including the Peatland Code and Peatland ACTION.
Consult with stakeholders such as SEPA and the Environment Agency.
Collaborate with teams across drainage, flood risk, ecology, aquatics, and construction disciplines.
Contribute to proposals, bids, and tenders.
3–5+ years’ experience in peatland hydrology consultancy.
Strong fieldwork skills and high standards for health & safety.
Degree in a relevant environmental subject.
Working knowledge of the Peatland Code and Peatland ACTION framework.
Experience in peatland survey, assessment, and restoration planning.
Clear, confident written and verbal communication.
Membership of a relevant professional body (working towards chartered status).
Full UK driving licence.
