Their collaborative approach ensures that heritage is not just preserved, but celebrated—balancing the needs of clients, communities, and the unique character of each site.
Now, they’re looking for experienced Built Heritage professionals to join their expanding teams in York and London. With roles available from Principal Consultant up to Technical Director, this is an opportunity to lead, influence, and shape heritage projects across the country.
As a senior member of the Built Heritage team, you’ll play a pivotal role in delivering expert advice, guiding projects through planning, and ensuring the sensitive management of historic assets. Whether leading on large-scale developments or supporting junior staff, you’ll be at the forefront of heritage consultancy.
Lead and contribute to Heritage Statements and Environmental Statement chapters.
Guide projects through the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) process.
Engage in the Development Consent Order (DCO) process (desirable).
Manage Listed Building Consent applications and produce written representations.
Provide expert input at Inquiries and Hearings (desirable).
Mentor and manage junior team members, supporting their career development.
Develop fee proposals and contribute to business development initiatives.
Build strong relationships with local authorities, stakeholders, and clients.
5+ years’ experience in a commercial heritage consultancy setting.
IHBC membership (essential).
MCIfA membership (desirable).
Proven expertise in preparing heritage assessments, EIA chapters, and planning applications.
Familiarity with the DCO process and inquiry/hearing procedures (desirable).
Strong experience in mentoring and managing staff.
Confidence in producing fee proposals and driving business development.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to liaise effectively with stakeholders.
Competitive salary:
Principal Consultant: from £45,000+
Associate Director: from £52,000+
Technical Director: from £60,000+
