As Director of Water Environment, you’ll lead and expand a high-performing team delivering consultancy services across flood risk, drainage, and peatland hydrology, particularly in pre-planning for the residential, renewables, and utilities sectors.
You’ll take ownership of strategic planning, team leadership, business development, and financial performance, while also contributing to the wider growth of the company alongside the senior leadership team.
Lead the Water Environment team, ensuring performance, morale, and development align with business goals.
Provide technical direction and oversight in flood risk, drainage, and/or peatland hydrology.
Uphold high technical standards and quality assurance processes.
Generate new business through networking, bids, and proposal writing.
Attend client meetings and offer expert consultancy advice.
Manage team resourcing and individual CPD.
Deliver continuous improvement across systems, health and safety, and culture.
10–15+ years of experience in flood risk, drainage, or peatland hydrology.
Chartered status with a relevant professional body.
Strong track record in sales and business development.
Proven delivery of Flood Risk Assessments, drainage strategies, and planning documentation for complex developments.
Advanced knowledge of planning legislation across the UK.
Excellent communication and stakeholder negotiation skills (SEPA, EA, LLFAs, etc.).
Experience in business leadership and continuous improvement.
Competitive salary Up to £70,000 DOE
