As a Senior Drainage Consultant, you will take the lead on delivering pre-planning drainage consultancy services for clients in the residential, renewables, and utilities sectors.
You’ll manage projects involving Drainage Impact Assessments, Sustainable Drainage Strategies, 3D detailed drainage design, and hydraulic modelling. You’ll also play a key role in mentoring junior team members and supporting cross-disciplinary collaboration.
Produce SuDS strategies, designs, calculations, hydraulic models, and reports.
Mentor and provide technical oversight to junior drainage consultants.
Ensure compliance with national and local drainage and flood risk policy.
Contribute to the quality assurance process by reviewing and improving deliverables.
Lead stakeholder consultations (EA, SEPA, LLFAs, IDBs, Sewerage Undertakers).
Conduct site visits to assess existing drainage conditions.
Attend design meetings, delivering accurate and pragmatic consultancy advice.
Work alongside flood risk, hydrology, ecology, and construction teams.
Support the production of bids, tenders, and client proposals.
4–6+ years’ experience in drainage and surface water management.
Degree in civil engineering or environmental discipline.
Membership of a relevant professional body, working toward Chartered status.
Strong knowledge of CIRIA C753 SuDS Manual, technical standards, building regs, and local drainage policy.
Proven ability to use AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and InfoDrainage independently.
Experience preparing drainage strategies for complex development projects.
Project management skills and a mindset for continuous improvement.
Excellent written and verbal communication.
Full UK driving licence.
