The Role
We are seeking an experienced Technical Director (Landscape Planning) to lead, inspire, and develop the design team in York. As a pivotal member of the leadership team, you will:
- Shape the business with a landscape-led approach, delivering excellence and mentorship to the wider design team.
- Manage key accounts for significant infrastructure projects, ensuring high-quality reporting and project outcomes.
- Lead on Landscape Visual Impact Assessments (LVIA), management plans, method statements, and strategies.
- Champion a multidisciplinary ethos, supporting projects across various sectors such as Renewable Energy, Residential, Town Centre, Public Realm, and Assets and Estates.

What You'll Do
- Lead and develop a diverse and talented design team, fostering collaboration and mentorship.
- Manage large-scale, high-profile projects with a strong focus on quality and delivery.
- Conduct and oversee LVIA/TVIA assessments, site surveys, and report writing.
- Author EIA chapters and provide quality assurance across deliverables.
- Shape landscape strategies and method statements to support multidisciplinary projects.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships through exceptional account management.
- Play a critical role in team and business growth, instilling high standards of excellence.
What We Are Looking For
Essential:
- CMLI qualification with at least five years of leadership experience.
- Strong consultancy background in landscape planning, with a deep understanding of planning policy and process.
- Expertise in LVIA/TVIA assessments and EIA chapters.
- Proven experience managing significant projects and mentoring diverse teams.
- Excellent project management, organisation, and communication skills.
Desirable:
- Experience working on NSIP Development Consent Order (DCO) projects.
- Expertise in managing multidisciplinary approaches and delivering national-scale infrastructure projects.
