The Role
We’re seeking a detail-oriented Arboricultural Surveyor to support a wide range of projects, from tree surveys on domestic sites to large-scale commercial developments. Working independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team, you’ll provide expert tree survey data and deliver high-quality reports to inform impactful decisions.
You’ll undertake a variety of arboricultural surveys and assessments, including tree risk assessments, using the latest methodologies and tools. This is a fantastic opportunity to work on diverse projects while enhancing your skills and contributing to meaningful environmental change.
What You’ll Do
- Conduct Arboricultural Surveys to BS 5837:2012 across various site types, including woodland, urban, rural, and brownfield.
- Perform Visual Tree Assessments (VTA) and tree risk assessments (QTRA or equivalent).
- Oversee arboricultural supervision for works near retained trees.
- Accurately record tree parameters and liaise with local authorities on tree protection measures.
- Deliver professional, concise, and well-structured reports.
What We’re Looking For
Essential:
- A QCF Level 4 qualification in Arboriculture (or above)
- Minimum of 6 months experience
- LANTRA Professional Tree Inspection qualification.
- Strong tree identification skills, including pests and diseases.
- Excellent understanding of BS 5837:2012 and tree risk assessments.
- Proficiency in digital survey tools, ideally OTISS with Android tablets.
- Excellent communication, organisational, and written skills.
- A full, clean UK driving licence and willingness to travel/stay overnight when needed.
Desirable:
- Membership of the Arboricultural Association or similar professional body.
- Experience in tree protection methodologies and CAD tools such as QArb.
- Experience with renewable energy projects.
- Knowledge of ArcGIS Pro.
