Job Description

SUP at Pilot Bay
Here’s one out of the box. A permanent GP role in a highly community-focused, multidisciplinary clinic with a strong emphasis on accessibility, flexibility, and culturally appropriate care. If you’re seeking rich experiences that align with your professional and personal values, you may have found your place.

Key Information
  • General Practitioner
  • Permanent
  • A minimum of 0.6 sessions per week but up to 1.2 could be accommodated so a couple would be welcome
  • Tauranga, Bay of Plenty

The Practice and the Team
The clinic environment is collaborative, patient-centred, respectful, informal, and highly team-oriented. There is a genuine family dynamic, with staff actively supporting one another and a practice manager who sidelines as an excellent baker.

The small and mighty team supports a high-needs patient population including refugees, migrant communities, homeless patients, and seasonal horticultural workers. They also have a pro bono relationship supporting the local homeless community.

Location
You can’t get any more central than Tauranga – a stone’s throw to one of the most popular beaches in NZ, with an ocean to sail, trails to ride, rivers to kayak, festivals, markets and plenty of choice for eating out.

With a population of just under 163,000, Tauranga is undergoing a huge period of growth and development. It has a stunning inner harbour and waterfront area – ideal for a quick walk around the block during your lunch break. A brand new civic centre is under construction and a variety of sporting, cultural and community events fill the city’s calendar.

If you have to leave, Auckland International Airport is a 2.5 hour drive, or catch a plane from Tauranga airport to any domestic destination.

About You
  • Current (or eligible for) full registration with Medical Council of New Zealand
  • Interest in broader-scope primary care, with opportunities to incorporate a variety of clinical treatments including infusions, PRP, and musculoskeletal work
  • Clinically confident
  • Culturally literate
  • Comfortable working alongside underserved and higher-needs patient populations
  • Perhaps an interest in Cardiology, Mental health and/or Musculoskeletal medicine
  • You’ll be keen to take your place in a team-orientated, community-focused practice in a beautiful city that’s coming of age
  • Locally based doctors interested in a fixed term contract are also welcome to apply
