At the southernmost part of NZ’s South Island is a small town that’s big on community spirit and also known for the wide range of outdoors activities. If you are interested in balancing  work with a mini escape, a locum opportunity with this friendly and supportive practice might be just what your doctor ordered.

KEY INFORMATION 

• General Practitioner Fellow
• Locum position 
• 32 hours per week (8/10)
• 20 minute appointments
  
• $650 + GST per session (negotiable)
• The Catlins, Southland 
• Outdoors lifestyle 

 

THE PRACTICE and THE TEAM 
Staff describe this practice as a lovely environment to work in. The team supports each other and their patients, with 20 minute appointments allowing the ‘extra mile treatment’ that perhaps isn’t always available in larger practices. Three practice nurses, 2 admin staff and a practice manager work closely with the GPs to make sure patients’ needs are met. 

LOCATION 
The Catlins area has so much going for it if geology, history, nature and outdoors experiences are your cup of Billy tea. Check out Nugget Point, Curio Bay and Purakaunui Falls for a start. Fly to Stewart Island Rakiura from Invercargill or cross the Foveaux Strait by ferry from Bluff to hike, camp, fish and unwind. In about an hour and a half you can be in either Dunedin or Invercargill for airport access or big town vibes, but the true charm of Owaka and the Catlins will likely hold your heart.

�� You’ll be keen to be part of a small, committed team and friendly rural community
