Job Advert: SEN 1:1 Teaching Assistant (Reception)

Location: Primary School, Dulwich
Start Date: ASAP
Working Hours: 8:30am to 3:30pm
Pay: £90 - £100 per day PAYE

We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate SEN 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support a child in Reception with cerebral palsy and selective mutism. This is a rewarding opportunity to work with a young learner in a primary school setting, helping them thrive and access their education. The role will initially be part-time (2 days a week) but is expected to increase to full-time (5 days a week) once the timetable is fully settled.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide tailored 1:1 support to a child in Reception with cerebral palsy and selective mutism.
• Assist with personal care needs as required.
• Help the child participate in classroom activities and interact with peers.
• Support the child with mobility challenges to ensure full inclusion in school life.
• Work closely with the class teacher and SENCo to deliver appropriate interventions and support.

Ideal Candidate:

• Experience working in Early Years education.
• Previous experience supporting children with mobility issues, preferably within a Special Educational Needs (SEN) setting.
• Understanding of cerebral palsy and selective mutism.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team and communicate with staff, children, and parents.
• A patient, compassionate, and proactive approach to supporting children with diverse needs.
