Job Title: SEN Student Support Assistant
Location: Croydon
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM - 3:30 PM
Age Group: 5 to 11 years old
Salary: £85 per day (PAYE)
About the Role:
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated SEN Student Support Assistant to join a dynamic and supportive team at an SEN provision in Croydon. This role involves working closely with children aged 5 to 11, primarily supporting those with Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA). As a key member of our team, you will help foster a nurturing and positive environment that promotes both the academic and emotional growth of their students.
Key Responsibilities:
- Individualised Support: Provide one-on-one assistance to students with PDA, helping them engage with their learning and manage their behaviours constructively.
- Collaborative Approach: Work alongside teachers and other support staff to implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and personalised behavioural strategies.
- Encouragement & Motivation: Create a supportive atmosphere that fosters students' emotional and social development, encouraging them to participate actively in their education.
- Monitoring Progress: Observe student progress, keeping detailed records and maintaining effective communication with teachers and parents.
- Safe & Inclusive Environment: Help maintain a classroom that is safe, inclusive, and conducive to learning, while addressing any challenges with professionalism and empathy.
Requirements:
- Previous experience working with children with special educational needs, particularly those with PDA, is highly desirable.
- A solid understanding of PDA and the challenges it presents.
- Excellent communication skills, with a calm, patient, and empathetic approach.
- Ability to build trusting and positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently as well as part of a team.
