Job Description

Position: Healthcare Assistant

Location: Morden

Type: Full-Time

 

We are recruiting for an outstanding Special Educational Needs (SEN) School committed to providing exceptional education and care to students with a variety of Special Educational Needs, including Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD) and complex needs. The School caters to students aged 3-11.  

 

The School are currently seeking a compassionate and dedicated Healthcare Assistant to support students 1:1 and in small groups. This is a full-time role and will be with a view to going permanent. The hours will be from 8.30am-3.30pm, Monday to Friday.

 

The successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting the health and well-being of students, working closely with teachers, therapists, and other support staff to provide holistic care.

 

Your duties will include:

  • Assist with personal care needs, including toileting, feeding, and dressing.
  • Support students with medical needs, such as administering medication under supervision.
  • Aid in the use of specialised equipment and mobility aids.
  • Implement care plans as directed by healthcare professionals.
  • Monitor and record health observations and report any concerns to the relevant staff.
  • Foster a safe, positive, and inclusive environment for all students.
  • Participate in training and development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.

 

Qualifications and Experience

  • Previous experience in a healthcare or care assistant role
  • Knowledge of and experience with PMLD and complex needs is highly desirable.
  • Relevant healthcare or care qualifications (e.g., NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care).
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and on your own initiative.
  • A caring, patient, and empathetic nature.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to meet the varied needs of the students.
  • Basic First Aid certification is an advantage.
