Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and passionate
Experienced Maths Teacher to join a dynamic school in New Malden.

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of delivering outstanding teaching and learning, as well as a passion for inspiring students to achieve their full potential in Mathematics.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teaching and Learning:

    • Deliver high-quality Mathematics lessons across Key Stages 3, 4, and 5, ensuring all students are engaged and challenged.
    • Develop and implement effective lesson plans, schemes of work, and resources in line with the Mathematics curriculum.
    • Use a variety of teaching strategies to meet the needs of all learners, including those with special educational needs (SEN) and higher-ability students.
    • Monitor student progress through regular assessments, providing constructive feedback to students and parents.
    • Promote a love for Mathematics, encouraging students to think critically and solve problems.
  • Curriculum Development:

    • Contribute to the development and improvement of the Mathematics curriculum, ensuring it remains innovative and relevant.
    • Stay up-to-date with changes to examination specifications and ensure lessons are designed to meet the latest standards.
  • Examinations and Assessments:

    • Prepare students for GCSE and A-Level Mathematics examinations, ensuring they have the knowledge, skills, and confidence to succeed.
    • Use data analysis to monitor student performance and implement interventions where necessary to raise achievement.
  • Professional Development:

    • Engage in continuous professional development, staying informed about new teaching methods, educational research, and technological advancements in education.
    • Participate in regular departmental meetings, training sessions, and collaborative planning with colleagues.
  • Support and Mentoring:

    • Support and mentor less experienced teachers and trainee teachers within the department, sharing best practices and resources.
    • Contribute to whole-school initiatives and extra-curricular activities, including Mathematics clubs, competitions, and trips.
  • Classroom and Behaviour Management:

    • Maintain high standards of classroom management, creating a safe and positive learning environment where students feel motivated and valued.
    • Implement the school's behaviour policy consistently, managing student behaviour with a calm and authoritative approach.

Person Specification:

  • Qualifications:

    • A degree in Mathematics or a closely related subject.
    • QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) is essential.
  • Experience:

    • Proven experience teaching Mathematics at secondary level, ideally across KS3, KS4, and KS5.
    • A strong track record of achieving excellent academic results and improving student outcomes.
    • Experience of working with students of varying abilities and needs, including SEN and EAL learners.
  • Skills and Abilities:

    • Deep knowledge of the Mathematics curriculum and the ability to teach across all key stages.
    • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, colleagues, and parents.
    • Excellent classroom management skills, ensuring a productive learning environment.
    • Ability to differentiate lessons effectively and support students of all abilities.
