Job Title: Year 6 SEMH Teacher

Location: Alternative Provision, London Borough of Lewisham

Contract Type: Full-Time, Fixed Term Contract

Daily rate: £140 - £260 a day (depending on experience)

Outstanding Alternative Provision located in the London Borough of Lewisham is recruiting  a passionate and dedicated Year 6 SEMH Teacher. Monday to Friday contract to commence immediately!

As a SEMH Primary Teacher / SEMH Secondary Teacher will be responsible for delivering high-quality education to students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, including those with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and challenging behaviours. Additionally skilled in behaviour management and has a strong understanding of the complexities associated with SEMH and ASD.

The successful Year 6 SEMH Teacher or Primary Teacher / Secondary Teacher must have a Qualified Teacher Status.

  • Plan, deliver, and assess engaging and differentiated lessons tailored to the needs of Year 6 students with SEMH and ASD.
  • Develop and implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and Behaviour Support Plans (BSPs) for students.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and safe learning environment that encourages student engagement and achievement.
  • Utilize effective behaviour management strategies to support students in overcoming barriers to learning.
  • Collaborate with teaching assistants, support staff, and external professionals to ensure a cohesive approach to student support.
  • Monitor and report on student progress, maintaining accurate and detailed records.
  • Engage with parents and carers to provide updates on student progress and involve them in the educational process.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in SEMH and ASD education.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of school policies and procedures related to SEMH and ASD.
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
  • Experience teaching students with SEMH needs, including those with ASD and challenging behaviours.
  • Proven ability to develop and implement effective teaching and learning strategies for students with SEMH and ASD.
  • Strong knowledge of behaviour management techniques and experience in applying them within an educational setting.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and families.
