Teaching Assistant (SEN) – One-to-One Support in Mainstream Primary Schools

Position: Teaching Assistant (SEN) – One-to-One Support
Type: Full-Time, term time only

About the Role:

We are seeking committed and experienced Teaching Assistants to work one-to-one with children who have SEN in mainstream primary schools. The children you will support have varying needs, including being non-verbal and experiencing sensory processing difficulties. Your role will be pivotal in helping these children reach their full potential and succeed academically and socially within the school setting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide tailored one-to-one support to children with SEN, focusing on their individual needs.
  • Assist with the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and Behaviour Plans.
  • Use a variety of communication methods to support non-verbal children.
  • Implement strategies to assist children with sensory processing difficulties.
  • Foster a nurturing and inclusive learning environment.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and other school staff to ensure the best outcomes for the children.
  • Monitor and record the child’s progress, providing regular feedback to parents and staff.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience working in SEN environments, particularly with children with similar needs.
  • A strong understanding of SEN, including strategies for supporting non-verbal children and those with sensory processing difficulties.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience, resilience, and a genuine commitment to supporting children with SEN.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team, collaborating with school staff to create a supportive environment.
  • Relevant qualifications in education or child development (desirable but not essential).
