Location:  SEMH School in Hillingdon

Start Date: September 2024

Daily rate: £160 - £250

Aspirational 7 – 18 SEMH School located in Hillingdon is recruiting a temp to perm SENCo full time in September 2024.

They are seeking an experienced and well-qualified SENCo to join their team, an SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) School. The successful SENCo will have expertise in managing pupils with EHCPs including LAC (Looked After Children), SEMH, ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder), and Behavioural complexities.  It is imperative that you have experience with EHCPs (Education, Health and Care Plans).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • National Award for SEN Coordination (or willingness to work towards it)
  • Extensive experience in a SENCO role, preferably within an SEMH setting
  • In-depth knowledge of SEMH, ASD, and behavioural issues
  • Experience working with LAC and understanding of their unique needs
  • Proven track record in managing and implementing EHCPs
  • Strong leadership and management skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a range of stakeholders
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
  • Lead and manage the provision for students with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND)
  • Coordinate the identification, assessment, and monitoring of students with SEMH, ASD, and behavioural issues
  • Develop and implement effective strategies to support the learning and development of LAC
  • Oversee the creation, implementation, and review of EHCPs
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, support staff, and external agencies to ensure the best outcomes for students
  • Provide professional guidance and support to colleagues on SEND and inclusion matters
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of interventions and support strategies
  • Ensure compliance with relevant legislation and school policies regarding SEND
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all SEND students
  • Deliver training and support to staff on SEND-related issues
  • Liaise with parents, carers, and external professionals to ensure a holistic approach to student support
