Job Description

Monday to Friday ongoing Contract role for a LSA (Learning Support Assistant) in a College SEN Provision located in the Greenwich Borough to start after the October 2023 half term break!

We are currently seeking a Contract LSA to join an outstanding team in an College with a large SEN Provision in Greenwich. The successful LSA will provide 1:1 support to students with a range of additional needs, including but not limited to ASD, ADHD, MLD, anxiety, suicidal thoughts, learning difficulties, and wheelchair users.

  • Supporting students on both a 1:1 basis and within small groups with additional needs inside the classroom.
  • Working closely with teaching staff to ensure that the needs of individual students are met.
  • Manage challenging behaviour in an appropriate and effective manner.
  • Provide support to students with personal care needs, if required.
  • Monitor and record student progress, and provide feedback to teaching staff.
  • Communicate effectively with parents/carers and other professionals involved in the care of the students.
  • Attend training sessions and staff meetings as required.
  • Experience working with students with a range of additional needs, including ASD, ADHD, MLD, anxiety, suicidal thoughts, learning difficulties, and wheelchair users.
  • Knowledge of appropriate strategies for managing challenging behaviour.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
  • A DBS check (Enhanced Disclosure) is required for this role.
  • You live in easy commutable distance to the Greenwich Borough
