Senior Teacher
We are working with an Outstanding SEN provision located in the London Borough of Croydon, that are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Senior Teacher to join their team.
As a Senior Teacher, you will play a crucial role in overseeing safeguarding, daily school organisation, leadership of staff, and the development of curriculum and assessment. You will work closely with the Head Teacher to ensure the smooth running of the school and contribute to a positive learning environment for our students.
This provision supports students in KS3/KS4 with Emotional and Mental Health Needs.
This role will suit someone looking to moving into a middle leadership role or currently in a leadership role.
Responsibilities:
- Take a lead role in safeguarding, ensuring the welfare and well-being of students.
- Organise and manage daily school routines and systems effectively.
- Ensure a rigorous and challenging curriculum that meets the needs of students with special educational needs.
- Support student progress and behaviour, providing guidance and intervention when necessary.
- Collect and analyse data for school evaluation purposes.
- Conduct appraisals and provide staff development opportunities.
- Contribute to aspects of pastoral care, promoting the welfare of individuals and the staff team.
- Manage student transitions and maintain strong links with external agencies.
- Collaborate with parents/carers, medical and therapy services, and educational advisers/consultants.
- Foster positive relationships with class teachers, teaching assistants, the school leadership team, the administration team, and the Board of Governors.
Requirements:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or actively working towards QTS.
- In-depth knowledge of current educational developments and legislation, particularly in relation to pupils with special educational needs.
- Familiarity with assessment principles and effective record-keeping for educational and personal development.
- Proficiency in using ICT for organisational and management purposes.
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
- Exemplary classroom practice and commitment to ongoing professional development.
- Flexibility and adaptability to changing circumstances.
- Ability to work towards set targets and contribute to the school development plan.
- Demonstrated self-reflection and a commitment to inclusive education.
- Leadership abilities to drive changes and developments within a department or school.
- Strong data analysis skills to identify targets for improvement.
- Experience delivering a differentiated curriculum to students with diverse needs.
- Prior experience working with students with SEMH and challenging behavioural difficulties.
- Previous staff management experience in an educational setting.
- Effective time management and prioritisation skills.
- Experience handling safeguarding concerns and following escalation protocols.
