Vehicle Technician – Military Vehicles

Location: Barnstaple
Rate: £40.00 per hour Umbrella
Hours: 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday
Contract: 5 Month Initial Contract

The Opportunity

Ford & Stanley are looking for experienced Vehicle Technicians to support the maintenance and repair of a varied fleet of military vehicles.

This is a great opportunity for a qualified Light or Heavy Vehicle Technician looking for a well-paid contract offering a 35-hour working week, excellent working hours and exposure to specialist military vehicle platforms.

Please note this role requires safety clearance prior to starting employment.

Working Hours

• Monday to Thursday: 08:00 – 17:00
• Friday: 08:30 – 11:30
• 35-hour standard working week
• Overtime is not routinely expected but may occasionally be available/required to support operational demands

What You’ll Be Doing

• Carrying out routine servicing, maintenance and repairs on military vehicles
• Conducting basic fault finding and diagnostics
• Identifying defective components and required replacement parts
• Using technical publications and IT systems to identify and order components
• Replacing defective vehicle components
• Completing general mechanical and vehicle engineering tasks
• Working in line with Defence engineering, Health & Safety and workshop standards
• Maintaining a high standard of workmanship and engineering hygiene

What We’re Looking For

You will need one of the following:

• NVQ Level 3 in Light or Heavy Vehicle Maintenance
• City & Guilds Light or Heavy Vehicle qualification Level 3 
• REME Class 3

You should also have practical experience within vehicle maintenance and be comfortable carrying out servicing, repairs and basic mechanical diagnostics.
