Job Title: Technician
Location: Canton, Wales
Salary: £63,413 per annum
Contract: 2 Year FTC, Full-Time
Shifts: Shifts including nights

The Opportunity

Ford & Stanley are working in partnership with CAF to recruit multiple Technicians for their depot in Canton . 

This is a rare chance to join one of the world’s leading rail manufacturers as they continue to expand their UK operations. These roles offer the opportunity to work with cutting-edge rolling stock and heavy engineering machinery.

The Role

As a Technician, you will play a key role in the maintenance, overhaul and reliability of CAF’s fleet. You will work as part of an established engineering team carrying out inspections, fault-finding, repairs and maintenance.

Responsibilities include:

• Performing maintenance, servicing and fault-finding on rolling stock systems
• Mechanical or electrical overhaul of key components
• Working to technical drawings, schematics and maintenance procedures
• Diagnosing faults using tools, test equipment and onboard systems
• Supporting safe and efficient depot operations
• Maintaining accurate records and ensuring compliance with safety standards

About You

We are seeking skilled, safety-focused Technicians with a background in heavy engineering. Ideal candidates will have experience in one or more of the following areas:

Mechanical backgrounds such as:

• Diesel engines (marine, bus, HGV, generators)
• Hydraulics, pneumatics, or heavy mechanical systems

Electrical backgrounds such as:

• Automotive electrical systems
• HVAC, PLCs, control circuits, or industrial electrics
• Diagnostics and testing experience

Additionally, you will bring:

• A recognised level 3 engineering qualification or above (eg. NVQ, apprenticeship, HNC – desirable)
• Ability to work nights
• A strong safety mindset and experience working in high-risk environments
