We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Teacher of Design Technology to join a well-regarded secondary school in Basingstoke, Hampshire. This is a permanent, full-time role for a teacher who can bring strong subject knowledge, practical classroom skill and a steady approach to teaching Design Technology across KS3 and KS4.

The school is popular, oversubscribed and has a strong reputation locally. It is a good school with clear routines, settled behaviour and a supportive culture. Staff are well supported, and there is a real emphasis on doing the basics well, with sensible systems in place and a focus on professional collaboration.

This post would suit an experienced DT teacher or an ECT looking for a school where there is proper support, strong induction and the chance to teach in a well-run department.

The role

You will be teaching Design Technology at KS3 and KS4, with responsibility for:

  • planning and delivering engaging, well-structured DT lessons
  • teaching practical and theory content confidently
  • supporting pupils to make good progress at GCSE
  • maintaining high standards of safety and organisation in practical lessons
  • adapting teaching for pupils of different abilities
  • working closely with colleagues to develop curriculum delivery
  • contributing to a department where consistency and collaboration matter

Depending on your experience, there may be opportunity to contribute to related strands such as resistant materials, product design, graphics, engineering or food.

We are looking for someone who

  • holds QTS
  • has experience teaching Design Technology or a closely related subject
  • can teach confidently across KS3 and KS4
  • understands how to run practical lessons safely and effectively
  • has a calm, clear and organised classroom style
  • is willing to contribute to a supportive department
  • values teamwork, consistency and good relationships with pupils
