Food Technology Teacher

Permanent, full time

We are seeking a committed Food Technology Teacher to join a large secondary school in the Coventry area. This is a permanent, full-time role for a teacher who can bring strong subject knowledge, calm classroom practice and a practical approach to teaching Food Technology across KS3 and KS4.

The school is an 11 to 18 setting with a sixth form, serving a mixed local community on the Coventry and Warwickshire border. It has clear routines, a structured curriculum and a focus on consistency in teaching and behaviour. Staff work within established systems and there is a practical, no-nonsense approach to day-to-day school life.

This role would suit an experienced Food Technology teacher or an ECT with strong subject knowledge and a real interest in practical learning, nutrition, health and food preparation. There may be scope to contribute to related practical or design technology areas depending on experience.

The role

You will teach Food Technology at KS3 and KS4, with responsibility for:

  • planning and delivering engaging, well-structured lessons
  • teaching practical and theory content confidently
  • maintaining high standards of health and safety in practical work
  • supporting pupils to achieve well at GCSE
  • using clear routines, assessment and feedback to support progress
  • contributing to curriculum planning and shared departmental practice

We are looking for someone who

  • holds QTS
  • has experience teaching Food Technology, Design Technology or a closely related subject
  • can teach across KS3 and KS4
  • is confident managing practical lessons safely and effectively
  • has a calm, clear and well-organised classroom style
  • can work well with colleagues and follow established systems
  • understands how to support pupils of different starting points

The school can offer

  • a supportive and orderly environment
  • clear behaviour systems
  • sensible workload expectations
  • collaborative planning and well-established routines
  • a sixth form school culture that values progression and consistency
  • strong support for ECTs and early career teachers
  • staff who work well together and keep things practical

This is a strong opportunity for a Food Technology teacher who wants a school where expectations are clear, systems are in place and the day-to-day work feels manageable.
