A secondary school in Walton is looking for a Head of Design and Technology to lead a forward thinking DT department from April 2026. This is an excellent opportunity for a DT specialist who enjoys shaping curriculum, supporting colleagues and ensuring students experience creative, safe and inspiring lessons.

The role

You will lead the strategic direction of the DT department and ensure high quality learning from KS3 to KS4. Responsibilities include:
• Developing a clear, well sequenced DT curriculum
• Ensuring strong teaching and learning across the department
• Coaching and guiding staff
• Monitoring progress and planning interventions
• Overseeing safe and effective practical work
• Modelling excellent classroom practice

• Qualified DT teacher with secure subject knowledge
• Confident teaching across key stages
• Strong organisational and leadership skills
• Able to motivate and support colleagues
• Committed to delivering safe, engaging and ambitious DT learning
