Job Description

Economics Teacher – South London – Outer London Pay – September 2025

Full time. Permanent. KS5 only. A Level experience essential

A thriving and diverse secondary school in South London is seeking an Economics Teacher to join their highly successful sixth form team from September 2025. This is a full time, permanent role on the Outer London pay scale, ideal for an experienced A Level teacher or FE-qualified specialist looking to focus entirely on post-16 education.

You’ll be teaching only A Level Economics (AQA) across two Year 12 and two Year 13 groups. This is a rare opportunity to teach exclusively at KS5 in a school where Economics is one of the most popular and successful subjects in the sixth form.

What makes this role unique?
This is a diverse and ambitious school with a strong academic culture. Students are motivated, behaviour is excellent, and the sixth form is growing in size and profile. Economics sits at the heart of this success, with students going on to competitive university courses in economics, politics, and business.

You’ll join a well-resourced department where planning is collaborative and subject development is taken seriously. For an outstanding candidate, there is also potential to move into a Head of Department role, with support and mentoring in place to aid transition into leadership.

This Economics Teacher post is ideal for someone who:

  • Has substantial experience teaching A Level Economics (AQA preferred)

  • Holds QTS, QTLS or a recognised FE qualification

  • Is looking for a role focused exclusively on sixth form teaching

  • Can inspire students to think critically about economic systems and policy

  • May be ready to progress into subject leadership

What you can expect:

  • A full KS5 timetable teaching AQA A Level Economics

  • Two Year 12 and two Year 13 groups

  • Excellent student engagement and strong academic outcomes

  • Supportive SLT and a consistent approach to behaviour and planning

  • Opportunities for career progression, including HoD development

  • Outer London salary and access to wider CPD networks
