Job Description

Geography Teacher – Croydon – September 2025

Full time. Permanent. Suitable for ECTs or experienced teachers

A purposeful and community-driven secondary school in Croydon is looking for a Geography Teacher to join its welcoming Humanities team in September 2025. This is a permanent, full time role with the potential for additional responsibility or Sixth Form teaching for the right candidate.

Geography is at the heart of the school’s academic curriculum and is seen as a powerful subject for helping students interpret the world around them. This is a school where staff are trusted to teach well, encouraged to share ideas, and supported to grow professionally.

What makes this school a great place to teach
This is a school that believes in strong pastoral care, clear routines and a curriculum built on deep subject knowledge. Classrooms are calm and focused. Students are respectful and motivated, and staff are given the tools and time to make an impact. There is a genuine sense of shared purpose and community.

Located within easy reach of central Croydon, the school is well connected by public transport and close to green space. Teachers benefit from supportive leadership, structured CPD, and a culture that values both wellbeing and ambition.

Inside the geography department
Geography is a popular subject at GCSE and contributes to the school’s growing Sixth Form offer. The department delivers a well-sequenced curriculum built around big ideas and case study depth. Fieldwork, enquiry and debate are woven throughout, helping students connect physical and human geography in meaningful ways.

There is strong collaboration within the Humanities faculty, and staff are encouraged to share resources, reflect on pedagogy and bring creativity to lessons. The right candidate will enjoy developing and delivering high-quality geography lessons to pupils who are curious and capable.

This role will suit a teacher who

  • Has qualified teacher status in Geography

  • Can deliver engaging lessons to KS3 and KS4 students

  • Is reflective, organised and enjoys working in a team

  • Wants to be part of a school that values inclusion, high expectations and a knowledge-rich curriculum

  • May have an interest in A Level teaching or subject leadership in future
