Elevation Recruitment Group are working on behalf of a bespoke machinery manufacturing business to recruit a Laser Operator for their Keighley site.

Job Title: Laser Operator
Location: Keighley
Salary Range: £28,500 - £30,709
Position Type: Full-Time

Role Summary

The Laser Operator will be responsible for processing sheet metal into finished, conforming parts while ensuring all stock control processes are followed. This role is key to maintaining quality, efficiency, and safe working practices within the fabrication department.

Main Activities & Accountabilities
Role & Responsibilities

  • Import the required program into the laser cutting machine.
  • Create a production plan, including program numbers and sheet quantities required.
  • Locate and inspect sheet metal to ensure material quality is suitable for production.
  • Set up the laser for the correct operation.
  • Load raw material, unload finished parts, and remove waste material.
  • Quality-check finished parts to ensure they meet the required standards.
  • Correct any non-conforming parts where possible.
  • Identify parts, book them into stock management software, and store them as instructed.
  • Maintain housekeeping standards and complete daily asset care checks.
  • Work to set timescales and meet production deadlines.
  • Move parts safely using lifting tools, overhead cranes, and forklift trucks.
  • Follow company safe systems of work and standard operating procedures.
  • Undertake any other similar duties required to support the business.

Qualifications, Knowledge & Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience operating a laser or CNC punch.
  • Engineering apprenticeship (desirable).
  • Experience setting up production plans on a laser.
  • Experience using overhead cranes and FLTs.
  • Understanding of health & safety policies and safe working practices.
  • Good understanding of quality requirements.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent hand–eye coordination.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work to production schedules.
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Good verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to follow procedures, safe systems of work, and quality standards.
  • Physically fit — able to stand for long periods and lift sheet metal
