Elevation Recruitment Group is delighted to be partnering with a leading Sheffield-based casting and forging manufacturer, renowned for producing precision-engineered components for the aerospace, energy, defence, and industrial sectors.

This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated and ambitious graduate to begin their career in Quality Assurance within a business that combines traditional metallurgical expertise with modern manufacturing technology.

The Graduate Quality Inspector will play an integral role within the company’s Quality Department, supporting the inspection and verification of high-integrity cast and forged products. The role offers full, structured training and the opportunity to progress into Quality Engineering or Continuous Improvement positions within the organisation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct visual and dimensional inspections of cast and forged components using precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, Verniers, gauges, and CMM equipment.
  • Support first-off, in-process, and final inspection activities to verify compliance with technical drawings and specifications.
  • Assist in non-destructive testing (NDT) and metallurgical examinations (training provided).
  • Accurately record inspection results and maintain documentation in line with the company’s quality management system.
  • Contribute to root cause analysis and the implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
  • Work collaboratively with Production, Engineering, and Quality teams to uphold the highest standards of product integrity.
  • Participate in internal audits, calibration control, and continuous improvement activities.

Person Specification

Essential:

  • Degree or HND in a relevant subject such as Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Metallurgy, or Manufacturing Engineering.
  • A strong interest in manufacturing, metals, and quality assurance.
  • High attention to detail with a structured, methodical approach to work.
  • Good problem-solving and analytical ability.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • A proactive attitude and eagerness to learn within a technical environment.

Desirable:

  • Previous experience (industrial placement or academic project) within a manufacturing or engineering environment.
  • Awareness of quality standards and systems (e.g. ISO 9001, AS9100, IATF 16949).
  • Basic understanding of measurement or inspection techniques.

Training & Development

The successful candidate will benefit from a comprehensive training and development programme, including:

  • Hands-on training in inspection methods and quality systems.
  • Mentorship from experienced Quality Engineers and Metallurgists.
  • Support towards professional qualifications such as CQI membership, NDT certification, or Lean Six Sigma accreditation.
