Elevation Recruitment Group are supporting a leading engineering business in Shipley who are looking to bring an experienced Horizontal Milling Machinist into their team.

The Role
As the Horizontal Milling Machinist, you will be responsible for setting and operating horizontal milling machines to produce precision components.

Your duties will include:
• Completing pre use inspections and reporting hazards or faults
• Carrying out asset care tasks in line with maintenance schedules
• Monitoring cutting fluids, tank levels and concentration, and cleaning tanks as required
• Setting up and operating horizontal milling machines using standard procedures
• Producing and inspecting parts to drawing standards, including deburring and part marking
• Meeting machine efficiency targets and following the production plan
• Recording material movements, times, downtime and part quantities using manual and computer systems
• Monitoring tooling life and completing tool changes
• Providing clear handovers between shifts
• Escalating material, tooling, drawing or machine issues promptly
• Supporting quality investigations and maintaining housekeeping and 6S standards
• Offering on the job training to new and existing colleagues
• Correctly logging material movements using computer systems and scanners

• Organised and methodical, able to work under your own initiative
• Flexibility, commitment and a willingness to learn
• Knowledge of engineering principles and NC control systems
• Understanding of quality systems and procedures
• Experience producing small batch complex components
• Apprentice trained to NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Milling, Turning or Grinding
