Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Group Health, Safety & Environment Manager to lead and develop a proactive, zero-harm culture across a growing UK manufacturing group. This is a key leadership position responsible for driving HSE strategy and performance across three operational sites, supporting over 250 employees.

The successful candidate will ensure compliance with legal, ISO, and corporate standards while fostering a culture of behavioural safety, environmental responsibility, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide visible, hands-on leadership across all sites, promoting a culture of safety, wellbeing, and environmental stewardship.
  • Develop and implement HSE strategies aligned with group sustainability and operational goals.
  • Maintain and enhance ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 management systems, ensuring full compliance with legislation and corporate standards.
  • Champion Behaviour-Based Safety (BBS) programs and lead cultural transformation initiatives.
  • Lead and support investigations into incidents, accidents, and near misses; identify root causes and ensure corrective actions are effectively implemented.
  • Analyse HSE data, monitor trends, and report on key metrics to drive continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with site and operations managers to develop site-specific safety plans and training programs.
  • Deliver HSE coaching and development across all levels of the organisation, from shop floor to senior leadership.
  • Support the identification and implementation of engineering and process improvements to eliminate or control risks.
  • Share best practices and standardise HSE processes across all sites.

Key Requirements

  • Proven experience in a senior HSE role within manufacturing, engineering, or warehousing environments.
  • NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent (Graduate IOSH membership desirable).
  • Certificate or Diploma in Environmental Management (IEMA) preferred.
  • Strong working knowledge of ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 management systems.
  • Demonstrable experience developing and implementing HSE strategies and behavioural safety programs.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and coaching skills.
  • Analytical mindset, with the ability to interpret HSE data and identify trends.
  • Willingness to travel regularly across UK sites.
