Project Manager Role Overview

We’re seeking a driven and capable individual to step into a Project Manager role, responsible for overseeing and delivering a portfolio of projects from enquiry through to completion. This is an ideal opportunity for an experienced Project Engineer or Project Coordinator looking to progress into a leadership role with wider responsibility and autonomy. Experience Project Managing within Engineering and/or Manufacturing, ideally highly regulated, is essential. 

The successful candidate will manage cross-functional resources, including engineering, sales, purchasing, QA, and project delivery teams, ensuring that all projects are delivered on time, to specification, and aligned with client expectations. You'll be accountable for the performance and development of the Projects Team and play a key role in driving continuous improvement initiatives.

Project Manger Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and coordinate multiple projects, ensuring successful delivery on time, within scope and budget.

  • Support the identification and management of risks across the project lifecycle.

  • Drive team collaboration to manage scope changes and project variations effectively.

  • Allocate and manage internal resources from engineering, sales, and support functions in line with project plans.

  • Facilitate effective communication across departments to ensure smooth project execution.

  • Build strong customer relationships, acting as a key point of contact for high-level engagement.

  • Analyse errors and project issues, implementing improvements to reduce cost and prevent recurrence.

  • Support and deliver business improvement initiatives and contribute to wider strategic objectives.

  • Maintain accurate project data within internal systems.

  • Mentor and support team members, providing guidance and sharing knowledge.

  • Prepare and present project reports to senior stakeholders.

  • Promote a proactive and continuous improvement culture within the project team.

Project Manager Skills & Experience:

  • Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise multiple tasks.

  • Solid background in project execution within engineering or manufacturing environments.

  • Confident in managing multiple projects concurrently.

  • Effective at building and leading cross-functional teams while remaining a supportive team player.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both verbal and written.

  • Experience in customer-facing roles with a focus on relationship building and issue resolution.

  • Good understanding of project risk, scope, and cost management.

  • Ability to analyse problems, identify root causes and implement process improvements.

  • IT literate and familiar with project reporting tools and business systems.

  • Self-motivated, action-oriented, and comfortable working with minimal supervision.

  • Experience presenting to senior management and contributing to business improvement discussions.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Degree (or equivalent) in Business Management, Engineering, or a related discipline.

  • Project management training or certification (e.g., Prince2, PMP, APM) is advantageous but not essential if compensated by experience.
