Elevation Recruitment Group are delighted to be supporting a market-leading engineering business in the appointment of a Head of Project Management. This is a pivotal, high-impact leadership role that will see you take full ownership of the end-to-end delivery of complex engineering projects—spanning the UK and overseas. With accountability across programme management, CDM, health & safety, and financial oversight, this role plays a key part in driving both operational performance and strategic growth across the project portfolio.

The Role:

As Head of Projects, you will be responsible for ensuring the successful delivery of major engineering projects from concept to completion. Reporting into senior leadership, you will lead a multi-disciplinary, international team of project managers and engineers, driving continuous improvement across programme performance, customer satisfaction, and commercial outcomes.

You will play a central role in translating business strategy into actionable, scalable delivery programmes, underpinned by best-practice project methodologies, robust commercial controls, and a culture of safety and innovation.

Key Responsibilities:

Programme Leadership:

• Lead the planning and execution of high-value, complex engineering projects across multiple regions.

• Translate business strategy into clear project roadmaps and delivery plans.

• Oversee and integrate project workstreams across multiple functions to ensure delivery on time, within scope and budget.

• Embed a high-performance culture within the project function, setting clear KPIs and leading from the front.

• Introduce and manage PMO governance to drive consistency, quality, and delivery standards.

Commercial & Financial Oversight:

• Work closely with the finance function to monitor revenue, margin and cash flow performance across the full project lifecycle.

• Ensure rigorous cost controls, forecasting and reporting are in place, in line with IFRS15 and business standards.

• Identify and mitigate project risks, driving timely corrective actions and ensuring maximum commercial value.

CDM & Health & Safety:

• Champion a strong Health & Safety culture across all projects and teams, with full ownership of CDM compliance.

• Implement and maintain rigorous safety procedures, risk assessments and change control processes.

• Lead by example, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement in safety and wellbeing.

Leadership & Collaboration:

• Directly manage senior project professionals and coordination teams.

• Engage closely with cross-functional teams including Engineering, Operations, Commercial, and Procurement to ensure seamless delivery.

• Act as the senior escalation point for project delivery issues, supporting resolution and ensuring customer expectations are met.

What We’re Looking For:

Essential:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Business, or Project Management (or related discipline).

• Professional certifications such as PMP, PRINCE2, PMI or equivalent.

• Proven track record of delivering complex, multi-disciplinary engineering projects.

• Strong understanding of project management frameworks and tools.

• Excellent leadership, stakeholder engagement, and influencing skills.

Desirable:

• Experience within fluid power or automation environments.

• Familiarity with digital tools and platforms such as Power BI.

• Understanding of engineering procurement and construction (EPC) delivery models.
