Elevation Recruitments Design & Projects team are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer, responsible for mechanical systems design and integration within power generation projects. The role involves developing engineering solutions related to engine/generator sets, cooling systems, fuel systems, enclosures, mounting frameworks, and exhaust and ventilation systems.
We're looking for someone adaptable and eager to work in a multidisciplinary environment, capable of learning quickly and stepping outside their comfort zone when needed.
Ensure mechanical design complies with local and national regulations, industry standards, and client specifications.
Produce mechanical design documentation including general arrangement drawings, fabrication details, and assembly layouts.
Design of products and systems provided by the company including fuel systems, cooling layouts, mechanical supports, enclosures, ducting, and pipework.
Identify, document, and resolve design issues early in the project lifecycle.
Maintain up-to-date technical records and documentation for all designs.
Evaluate and incorporate emerging technologies and materials into mechanical systems.
Develop and manage bills of materials (BOMs) for mechanical components and site packages.
Work closely with design managers and project managers to ensure timely, budget-compliant project delivery.
Provide technical support to production and site service teams during manufacturing and installation phases.
Engineering qualification (HNC/Degree or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering or related field is essential.
Experience in mechanical design within power generation and/or mechanical handling equipment.
Strong knowledge of materials, manufacturing processes, and mechanical standards (e.g., BS, ISO).
Proficiency in 2D AutoCAD and ideally 3D CAD (e.g., SolidWorks, Inventor).
Familiarity with pressure systems and knowledge of relevant health and safety standards (e.g., PUWER, LOLER).
Experience working with multidisciplinary teams including electrical and control engineers.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively.
Familiarity with quality management systems such as ISO9001 and ISO14001.
A full UK driving licence is required.
