Elevations Design & Projects team are supporting a key client of ours on an opportunity for a skilled Design Engineer to join a collaborative engineering team within a modern manufacturing environment. This role focuses on the design, development, and implementation of jigs and fixtures to support production processes. The ideal candidate will have strong CAD skills, a mechanical engineering background, and experience in tooling design for fabrication or assembly operations.
Lead the design, development, and commissioning of jigs, fixtures, and bespoke tooling.
Collaborate with production and design teams to ensure tooling meets performance and safety standards.
Support product design improvements to enhance manufacturability and fit-up.
Create and manage design documentation, including BOMs, models, 2D drawings, and calibration procedures.
Drive tooling projects from concept through validation, using structured stage-gate processes.
Liaise with external suppliers for outsourced tooling manufacture or turnkey solutions.
Participate in engineering change and continuous improvement activities related to tooling.
Degree in Mechanical Engineering (HND may be considered).
Proficient in 2D and 3D CAD (preferably CREO or equivalent).
Strong background in design for manufacture, particularly in jigs and fixtures.
Hands-on knowledge of production processes including the following would be beneficial:
CNC machining (milling, turning)
Pressing/forming
Laser/plasma cutting
EDM, surface and cylindrical grinding
Welding and fabrication
Mechanical assembly
Experience managing tooling or equipment projects preferred
