Elevations Design & Projects team are working with a market leading manufacturing business looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join a dynamic design team, focused on delivering high-quality, cost-effective solutions. This role covers the full design lifecycle—from initial concept and development through to manufacturing and commissioning—requiring a hands-on approach and strong collaboration with cross-functional teams.
Design and develop mechanical components and assemblies using 3D CAD tools (Inventor, SolidWorks, or equivalent).
Produce detailed engineering drawings, BOMs, and supporting documentation to industry standards.
Work closely with electrical, software, and production teams to ensure cohesive and practical design solutions.
Contribute to design reviews, risk assessments, and FMEA activities.
Provide technical support during machine build, commissioning, and testing phases.
Review and improve existing designs based on operational feedback and cost efficiency.
Communicate with suppliers regarding manufactured parts and material specifications.
Ensure design data is managed and maintained using a document control system (e.g. Vault).
Degree, HND, or HNC in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
Minimum 2-3 years of experience in mechanical design
Proficient in 3D CAD software (preferably Autodesk Inventor or similar).
Solid understanding of mechanical principles, materials, and common manufacturing processes such as machining, fabrication, and sheet metal work.
Ability to interpret and produce technical drawings to BS/ISO standards.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with attention to detail.
Effective communication and teamwork skills.
Familiarity with pneumatics and/or motion control is advantageous.
Working knowledge of Autodesk Vault or similar data management systems.
Awareness of CE marking, machinery safety directives, and relevant safety standards.
Practical experience in prototype assembly and testing environments.
