Elevation Recruitment are pleased to be working exclusively with a Derbyshire business to help them recruit a Mechanical Design Engineer.
Our client is a well-established business that design and specialist systems for aerospace, energy, water, and industrial clients worldwide. They’re best known for making large-scale noise control solutions for jet engines and power turbines. They also also provide gas compression systems, emissions control, and specialist equipment for everything from power stations to hospitals.
Days & Hours: 37.5 hours Monday – Friday 8.30-5.00pm
Holidays: 25 days plus bank holidays
Pension: 6% contribution match from employer
Hybrid working: 4 days in the office (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday), Friday work from home
About the Role:
We’re seeking a skilled Mechanical Design Engineer to join our dynamic team in delivering bespoke engineering solutions. You’ll be involved in the full design lifecycle – from concept to detail design – ensuring products meet technical, quality, and compliance standards. You’ll collaborate across departments and with clients to deliver reliable, innovative designs.
Key Responsibilities:
Design bespoke mechanical products to meet client specifications, safety standards, and functional requirements
Develop 3D CAD models and detailed manufacturing drawings
Produce engineering calculations and support design reviews
Collaborate with manufacturing, procurement, and project teams to refine and finalise solutions
Interpret technical specifications and implement relevant standards and legislation
Contribute to R&D, continuous improvement, and occasional site surveys
Provide technical support across the business and manage time effectively to meet project milestones
About You:
Degree-qualified in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent)
Proven experience in mechanical design, preferably with fabricated structures or assemblies
Strong understanding of core mechanical principles and design for manufacture
Proficient in CAD (e.g., SolidWorks, Inventor) and familiar with engineering tools (Excel, Mathcad, PDM/PLM systems)
Able to work independently or in a team, with strong communication and report-writing skills
Desirable:
Knowledge of structural codes, acoustics, noise control or regulatory standards (Machinery Directive, CDM, ATEX)
Membership with IMechE, IOA or working towards chartership
