Elevation Recruitment are working with a reputable precision engineering business who are looking to expand their teams with an experienced Project Engineer. This role offers the opportunity to work on technically challenging components and assemblies in a highly regulated industry.
This position is ideal for individuals with a background in either heavy fabrication or precision machining who are looking to take on technical ownership of complex engineering projects.
As a Project Engineer, you will act as the primary technical lead for allocated projects. You will serve as the key customer contact and will be responsible for ensuring successful project delivery — on time, within budget, and to specification. Strong cross-functional collaboration, a technical mindset, and attention to detail are critical in this role.
Attend and contribute to pre- and post-contract technical discussions with customers
Ensure all project requirements are clearly understood and communicated internally
Define and document manufacturing methods for bespoke parts and assemblies
Specify materials, subcontract processes, and non-manufacturing requirements
Generate route cards, stage drawings, and related documentation for production
Provide technical support to internal teams throughout the project lifecycle
Act as the main technical and quality liaison with customers
Coordinate with cross-functional teams to meet quality, cost, and delivery targets
Attend customer reviews and visit client or supplier sites as needed
Capture and integrate lessons learned to enhance future project delivery
Identify opportunities to streamline processes and reduce waste
Ensure all activities comply with the company’s Quality Management System
Collaborate with documentation teams to prepare and finalise project packs
HNC (or equivalent) in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering
Background in either heavy fabrication or precision machining is essential
Project engineering experience within a regulated industry (e.g., defence, aerospace, nuclear)
Strong understanding of engineering drawings and specifications
Experience developing manufacturing methods for complex components
CAD knowledge (advantageous but not essential)
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word
Ability to work independently and manage technical responsibilities
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
