Elevation Recruitment Group are working with a special pupose machinery manufacturer near Chesterfield to help them recruit an Electrical Project Engineer.

POSITION DETAILS

ROLE OVERVIEW

As an Electrical Design / Project Engineer, you will be responsible for designing and developing electrical control systems, working with conventional logic (relay, timer) and PLC-based hardware and software. This role provides an excellent opportunity for professional growth, with mentorship and on-the-job training available from a highly experienced team member.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Designing electrical control systems based on conventional logic and PLC/HMI solutions from customer-supplied documentation.

  • Creating electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and one-line drawings using AutoCAD.

  • Developing 3D CAD models, assemblies, and 2D drawings using PTC Creo and AutoCAD.

  • Maintaining and improving existing product lines, ensuring continuous innovation.

  • Producing comprehensive product documentation, including instruction manuals and technical literature.

  • Assisting in contract documentation and collaborating with engineering teams to deliver large-scale projects.

  • Traveling to client sites for meetings, installations, and commissioning as required.

  • Creating cause-and-effect diagrams, power consumption tables, and heat dissipation analyses.

  • Supporting quality and work procedures for manufacturing and workshop operations.

  • Assembling control panels, troubleshooting, and installing new and existing equipment.

  • Managing Bill of Materials (BOMs) within the company’s MRP system.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum HND/HNC in Electrical Engineering (degree-level preferred).

  • Significant experience in designing control systems using conventional logic and PLCs.

  • Strong understanding of wiring regulations and industry standards, especially in the marine sector.

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD for electrical schematics.

  • Basic familiarity with 3D CAD software (PTC Creo preferred).

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Competence with Microsoft Word and Excel.

  • Hands-on experience in building and testing control panels.

  • Attention to detail when assessing project and customer requirements.

  • Excellent written communication skills with a high standard of accuracy.

  • Self-motivated, confident, and resourceful.

  • Ability to work independently or as part of a collaborative team.

  • Familiarity with PTC Creo/Windchill software is a plus but not essential.
