Location:  
Remote opportunities available with offices in Corsham & Warrington 
Occasional travel to client sites

Our Team 

You will be part of a team working on some of the most advanced and pioneering engineering programmes in the UK, Europe and around the world; supporting our clients to bring innovative concepts and technologies across the civil and military aerospace fields to market, including the latest developments in Urban Air Mobility and unmanned aircraft.  

Be part of a team developing new approaches to integrate safety with cyber and physical security, alongside operational demands, whilst also explore and develop new safety certification approaches to areas such as automotive safety engineering and autonomous transport solutions for air and land use.  

The Role 

Ebeni’s Aerospace & Defence Business Unit are looking to recruit experienced Safety Engineers driven by the desire to make real change through engineering innovation and motivated to succeed in a fast moving and dynamic environment – you will: 

  • Undertake functional safety analysis via application of appropriate regulatory requirements, legislation, tools and techniques.  
  • Interface/liaise with system designers, regulators, certification bodies, operators, systems engineering throughout the development lifecycle regarding safety.  
  • Identify and create evidence to support system assurance, using safety related activities to support the traceability of system safety requirements, to implementation and operation.  
  • Perform hazard analysis to define safety requirements and detailed systems analysis, to demonstrate that safety requirements can be met.  
  • Develop safety arguments and draft safety cases to support assurance and certification activities, including identification of appropriate evidence to show safety arguments are reasonable, well-constructed and justified.  
  • Assist in proposal and client development and resource estimation for relevant projects and completion of tasks, within allocated timescales/hours.

Skills & Experience 

We want experienced safety engineers who have gained relevant experience within a design environment and are well versed in the tools and techniques required to meet civil and military standards. You will have gained some of the below experience:  

  • Have a solid background in safety engineering gained in an aerospace design and product development environment.  
  • Sound knowledge of civil certification and safety standards such as CS25, CS23, CS-E, ARP4754A, 4761 and 5150a, DO178B/C and DO254.   
  • Knowledge and experience in the application of military standards including DEF-STAN 00-56 and Mil-Std 882E.  
  • An awareness of evolving certification requirements and special conditions such as SC-VTOL would be advantageous.  
  • Demonstrable experience producing safety assessment reports and other artefacts and application of the associated safety assessment techniques, to meet civil and military aerospace requirements including FTA, FMEA/S, MBSA, BowTie Analysis etc.  
  • Demonstrable experience of the application of safety and risk engineering processes to identify hazards and vulnerabilities, author safety cases and justifications, assess risk and implement controls to reduce risk to an acceptable level e.g. FHA, SSA, CCA (ZSA, PRA, CMA).  
  • Knowledge and experience of developing system safety arguments and safety cases including the use of Goal Structuring Notation (GSN) or Claims Argument Evidence (CAE).  
  • Ability to build effective and strong working relationships with clients and colleagues. To work effectively, professionally and proactively with people, in face-to-face meetings and through interaction by video calls, telephone and email.
