This role is within our emergency duty team (EDT), which sits within our Integrated Front Door (IFD). The EDT operates Monday-Thursday 5pm until and Friday 4.30pm until 8.30am Monday. Weekend times are spilt into shifts of Friday 4.30pm – 8.30am Saturday, Saturday 8.30am – 5pm, Saturday 5pm until 12pm. Sunday 8.30am – 5pm and Sunday 5pm until 12pm.
The EDT call handler role is a pivotal role in ensuring our children are safe out of hours and that they receive the same level of care and attention as they would in hours. The EDT call handler will be responsible for taking all calls which relate to children in our area, these calls will be from members of the public, or professionals who may have worries for our children.
The EDT call handler will answer calls, using a strength-based approach, asking the appropriate questions, and ensuring we gather the very best quality, clear and concise information about children from the very start.
During the call you will be responsible for inputting this straight into Liquidlogic, ready for handover to the on-call Social Worker for review.
The EDT call handler will at all times have the support of the on-call Social Worker, who will make decisions regarding next steps.
