Role information

Title: Nursery Senior

Accountable to: Nursery Operational Manager and Deputy Manager

Accountable for: Day nursery team members.

Salary: £24,921.00

Hours: 37.5 hours to cover day nursery operation 8-6pm Monday-Friday,

The role is key to the development and delivery of our childcare provision, Butterflies Day Nursery, working with the Operational Manger to lead the committed team in providing a setting that strives for quality and an excellent reputation in our community. In a demanding field, we are looking for someone who has an eye for quality and a clear understanding of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities.

The role carries significant responsibilities, ensuring the smooth running of the baby room, working as part of the senior leadership team within the nursery, and ensuring the quality of the provision throughout the setting. The senior baby room lead is committed to working in the baby room full time.

We are looking for someone who is passionate about improving the lives of children on the Nunsthorpe and Bradley Park estates and wider communities of North East Lincolnshire, with a commitment to working within our values with drive and vision.

Whilst we would ideally seek someone with a higher level of qualification, we have placed the minimum Ofsted requirement to ensure that we are open to candidates that bring the desired attitude and drive alongside the requirements of the role.

You’ll need to be:

Minimum Level 3 Childcare qualification (Level 2 accepted with leadership experience)

− Experience working in a childcare setting with some leadership experience. 

− Focused and able to plan to achieve outcomes within your work area, being able to problem solve and make decisions. 

− Committed to continuous quality improvement of the setting.

− Sound knowledge of safeguarding procedures within a childcare setting and local statutory procedures.

− Inclusive in your approach to delivering services to children, families and all stakeholders.

− A good communicator with all stakeholders, families, children, teams and partners.

− Committed to delivering services that demonstrate high quality and ensure compliance across all activity.

Your key responsibilities will be:

− Assisting the Operational Manager in ensuring that the nursery meets it’s aims and objectives, is running efficiently and to a high standard; ensuring the continuation of high-quality childcare in the baby room and throughout the nursery.

 − To promote the aims and objectives of the nursery, ensuring that the nursery ethos, curriculum and pedagogy is understood and implemented to a high level in the baby room and throughout the nursery.

− Working with the nursery Operational Manager in creating a curriculum that suits the needs of the children within the nursery, and promotes school readiness and meets Ofsted and EYFS standards.

− Ensuring resources are up to date and relevant to the children’s needs and interests and role modelling care and respect when handling resources.

− To support in the development, implementation and maintenance to monitor and record child development, nursery processes and systems.

− Liaising with parents, professionals and agencies as needed, attending meetings and networking in relation to children or the nursery.

− Support with the development and implementation of policies and procedures.

We’re looking for someone who can bring:

− A passion for early childhood education, with experience in developing and implementing age/child appropriate curriculum and activities for children.

− An approach to leadership that brings out the best in people and teams, values every contribution, builds diversity, raises standards and invites enthusiasm and commitment.

− A commitment and understanding of ensuring a safe and nurturing environment for all children.

− Excellent working knowledge of EYFS and Ofsted and compliance processes, aiming to raise standards of provision.

− An understanding of the needs of families with complex needs, its impact on children in settings with an approach that builds stronger partnerships with parents and carers for the benefit of their children.

− An ability to drive the overall success of the nursery by managing staff, programs, and resources effectively, working with the Operational Manager and Deputy Manager to develop and deliver plans.

− Flexible in your approach to leadership and managing your role for the needs of the team, setting and nursery.

 

This role requires working in the voluntary sector, experience of this is not essential as we envisage that there may be potential candidates from other sectors with the essential skills and experience. However, the ability to adapt to working in the sector is crucial, it can be a culture shock for some, but the benefits are endless.
