Role: Back-End Engineer for uLED Research Lab
Location: Cork

Position Summary
Our uLED research lab is seeking a highly motivated Back-end Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for Dice, Grind, Bond & CMP process on state-of-the-art semiconductor equipment in pursuit of the next generation of ultra-low-power LED (uLED) technology. We are looking for a hands-on engineer with a passion for exploring new materials, processes, and applications.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and optimize a variety of back-end systems for the development and maintenance of the relevant processes. This includes the operation and sustaining of processes on Dicing, Grinding, Bonding & CMP toolsets to develop new processes.
  • Understand and optimize existing back-end processes to improve device performance and yield.
  • Understand and execute DoE’s (Design of Experiments) to support new Process Releases.
  • Clearly Document and Summarize all works & actions in relation to the above.
  • Running of wafers for processing on tools to support progressing ‘lots’ through the process.
  • Collaborate with the rest of the team (Including Research Scientists and Device Integrators) to design, fabricate, and test new uLED devices.
  • Participate in technology transfer and training activities.
  • Ensure compliance with laboratory safety requirements and regulations.
  • If necessary, the candidate will need to be flexible to support areas outside of their areas of expertise.

Qualifications / Requirements

  • A bachelor’s or master’s degree in chemical engineering, Materials Science, physics or a related field.
  • Prior hands-on Experience of Semiconductor processing – 2+ years of experience of LED/ III-V materials required.
  • Prior Experience of Semiconductor MES (Manufacturing Execution System) – EYELIT Strongly Preferred.
  • Understanding of SPC and how it applies to deposition process and device stability.
  • Knowledge of wet and dry theory and applications for uLED devices.
  • Strong experimental and problem-solving skills.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work well in a team environment.
  • Familiarity with cleanroom protocols and safety regulations.
