Role Summary
Industrial Hygiene Scope
Co-ordination, continuous improvement and management of specific Industrial Hygiene (IH) programs onsite which may also involve close liaison with Safety/Industrial Hygiene engineers. Examples of site IH programs include hearing conservation, ionising and non-ionising radiation, ppe and ventilation. In addition you will support the overall EHS management system and OHSAS 18001 / ISO 45001 standards which will involve close liaison with EHS engineers. Your responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
- Conducting IH risk assessments and associated employee and/or area exposure monitoring for both physical and chemical hazards.
- Supporting IH surveys associated with our Equipment Sign Off (ESO) program.
- Act as the content expert in relation to assigned IH programs.
- Support accident/incident investigation and root cause analysis.
- Conduct regular audits to ensure compliance to regulatory requirements and internal standards.
- Analyze data, identify trends and define focus areas.
Environmental Scope:
Responsible for the development, co-ordination, continuous improvement and management of site environmental programmes, in particular wastewater, and potentially support other programmes such as air emissions, noise, refrigerants, groundwater and management systems. Your responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
- Playing a key role in ensuring compliance with the site’s Industrial Emissions Licence and ISO14001 standard. This includes review of compliance results/trends, Env Mgt System elements including awareness/training, documentation, Environmental Management Programme projects etc., incident investigation and root cause analysis.
- Understand how all environmental programmes work by supporting all Environmental Engineers at the site with a view to becoming a primary owner for some environmental programme(s), with additional responsibility as secondary owner for other programmes.
Safety Scope:

Examples of site safety programs include Powered Industrial Trucks, Working at Heights etc. In addition you will support the overall EHS management system and OHSAS 18001 / ISO 45001 standards which will involve close liaison with EHS engineers. Your responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
- Conducting safety risk assessments
- Act as the content expert in relation to assigned safety programs.
- Support accident/incident investigation and root cause analysis.
- Conduct regular audits to ensure compliance to regulatory requirements and internal standards.
- Analyze data, identify trends and define focus areas.
Minimum Qualifications:
A minimum of a NFQ Level 7 qualification related to the role (e.g. environmental sciences, sustainability, chemical engineering, environmental health & safety, sciences) or have completed either a Post. Grad. Diploma or MSc. related to the role. Level 8 qualification is preferable.
Preferred requirements
- 3+ years’ work experience related to the role is beneficial.
- Ability to work in a team with minimum direction. Self-motivator with own initiative.
- Demonstrate excellent communication skills, both verbal and written and the ability to present and explain environmental information to a broad audience of both technical and non-technical people.
- Excellent English - written and verbal
- Knowledge of some of the EHS areas mentioned above.
- A high tolerance for ambiguity and change due to the dynamic nature of the business.
- Demonstrate efficient work methods, analytical & problem-solving skills and ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
