Role description:

Arcadis is seeking a Supply Chain Specialist (Mechanical) to lead end-to-end procurement and supplier management activities for mechanical materials and equipment on major projects. This role focuses on developing and executing RFPs, driving multi-sourcing and risk mitigation strategies, conducting supplier evaluations, and ensuring timely, cost-effective project delivery. The position requires close collaboration with cross-functional teams to manage supplier performance, mitigate supply chain risks, and maintain continuity in alignment with client and organizational objectives. This is a remote role that requires some flexibility to support project needs

Role accountabilities:

  • Lead the preparation, review, and issuance of RFPs for mechanical materials and equipment packages, ensuring clarity of technical, commercial, and risk mitigation requirements.
  • Embed multi-sourcing, supplier resilience, and business continuity criteria into RFP documents (e.g., alternate supplier qualification, BCP evidence, geographic diversification).
  • Coordinate with engineering, project controls, and client teams to finalize and approve RFP scope and deliverables.
  • Execute supplier prequalification and evaluation against RFP criteria: technical capability, BCP, delivery history, geographic diversity, and financial health.
  • Develop and maintain a criticality matrix for materials/equipment and map out single-source risks.
  • Implement and monitor multi-sourcing strategies for Class A/B items, ensuring backup supply options.
  • Lead supplier engagement sessions, clarification meetings, and scenario workshops (e.g., disruption simulation, BCP testing).
  • Ensure complete buyout of mechanical material & equipment scope as per project schedule and risk assessment.
  • Negotiate and finalize purchase orders and contracts, including lead-time guarantees, buffer stock requirements, and escalation clauses.
  • Track buyout status, update risk registers, and escalate outstanding issues.
  • Define and track core KPIs: defect rate, OTIF (On Time In Full), lead time variance, cost savings, corrective action implementation, and critical supplier risk rating.
  • Maintain supplier performance dashboards and report on trends, risks, and improvement actions.
  • Drive root-cause analysis and corrective action with suppliers for performance issues or nonconformances.
  • Collaborate with engineering, logistics, QA/QC, and construction teams to align procurement activities with project milestones.
  • Support audits, compliance reviews, and lessons-learned sessions related to procurement and supplier management.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Supply Chain, Logistics, or related field.
  • 5+ years’ supply chain/procurement experience in mechanical materials/equipment or industrial projects.
  • Demonstrated experience in RFP development, supplier risk assessment, and buyout execution.
  • Familiarity with supplier performance management, KPI dashboards, and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Proficient in procurement/ERP tools (SAP, Oracle, etc.) and MS Excel/Power BI for reporting.
  • Understanding of supplier business continuity, multi-sourcing, and international supply chains.
  • Technical understanding of mechanical materials/equipment and ability to manage multiple priorities and work to tight deadlines.
  • Collaborative and able to work cross-functionally in a project environment.
  • Ability to provide legal US work authorization documents required. Will consider US domestic travelers and relocation.
