Job Description:
The Datacenter Design Subject Matter Expert will be responsible for the facilitation and delivery of Microsoft’s industry-leading datacenter designs including the development of new technology and advanced concepts from pre-programming through design development, construction, and the turnover to Operations. This role will provide technical direction, decision-making, document review and overall leadership for our datacenter architectural / engineering designs. To be successful in this role the candidate will oversee the delivery of multiple, concurrent, complete Datacenter design solutions aligned with the scopes, schedules, and budgets of the projects. The Design Subject Matter Expert will engage with key groups within Microsoft as well as outside vendors who specialize in datacenter architecture and engineering.

Knowledge, Experience and Skills:
Successful candidates will lead and direct architecture or engineering design consultants in the design and coordination of discipline specific systems. The candidate must have excellent leadership, communication, and presentation skills. Candidate must possess a high level of proficiency in their specific discipline with a primary focus on datacenter design. The candidate must also be able to work with other technical and non-technical groups in a fast- paced environment and do so with an even temperament. The candidate must be a person of integrity, be methodical, detailed- oriented with a strong work ethic.

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering in related field
• Professional Engineer
• Minimum of 10 years’ experience in consulting engineering
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience as lead engineer, lead architect or design manager
• Candidate must possess strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to lead teams of engineers in advanced engineering and operational processes and procedures as they relate to large datacenter environments.
• Ability to manage, prioritize and successfully execute multiple concurrent projects.
