Position Summary

This position is for a Professional Geotechnical Engineer Subject Matter Expert (SME) that will provide design review and guidance, technical leadership, and coordinated design direction for engineering elements for data center design, permitting, construction and site selection, due diligence, and master planning. The Professional Geotechnical Engineering SME will work on multiple EMEA projects and collaborate with the team that's launching Microsoft’s best-in-class cloud infrastructure worldwide.

Key Responsibilities: -

  • The Professional Geotechnical Engineer SME will engage with the key Data Centre Client stakeholders, authorities having jurisdiction as well as external A/E consultants and contractors that specialize in datacenter builds to ensure that the Data Centre Client data center technical design standards and quality are met.
  • The successful candidate will provide engineering technical review and oversight for new data center designs, builds, leases, and renovations in addition to Professional Geotechnical Engineer technical support for site selection, due diligence, master planning and permitting.

Knowledge, Experience and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in and/or Professional Geotechnical Engineer Engineering.
  • Professional Geotechnical Engineer (Engineering license preferred).
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in and Professional Geotechnical Engineer with experience leading large scale critical infrastructure projects with large earthworks, complex ground conditions, retaining walls, foundations of various types.
  • Candidate must possess strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to perform complex business case analysis to justify technical design approaches and decisions
  • Experience in navigating in CAD, Revit, Sketchup, Bluebeam, BIM software for drawing review and development of conceptual level master plans during site selection and early design phases is desirable
  • Expert knowledge of building codes and regulations
  • Experience working in mission critical projects across EMEA
  • Experience and working knowledge on land acquisition, master planning, permitting and development
  • Provide Professional Geotechnical Engineer engineering technical oversight for site selection and due diligence efforts with external and internal stakeholders
