Summary

Arcadis DPS Group Global has an opportunity available for a Lead Electrical Designer/Engineer to join our Albany, NY operation. This individual designs and develops layouts for electrical systems for power distribution, lighting, low voltage systems, fire alarm, and assists in the production of detailed design documents. Being a Senior Electrical Designer requires advances knowledge of electrical equipment and local building codes. Independently contributes to complex aspects of a project.

Proven success working for EPCM consulting company in a similar role, supporting projects related to cleanrooms, laboratories, semiconductor fab, data center, solar manufacturing, biotechnology, or pharmaceutical industries is highly desirable.

 

Responsibilities

  •  Assures that drawings and designs are in accordance with company production and design 
    standards.
    • Maintains company drawings, templates and standards current with applicable local codes.
    • Trains and mentors Designer I and II on multiple design approaches and methods.
    • Acts as a liaison between Electrical department and other departments and disciplines including: Process / HVAC / Piping / EHS / Automation / C&Q / Procurement
    • Interacts with and presents to contractors and clients.
    • Represents department and provides updates on electrical work in company/project meetings.
    • Writes scope of work for electrical design based on preliminary review and meetings with the client.
    • Inspecting electrical components during and after the electrical systems installation.
    • Develops and provides drawings for own designs and produces sketches to incorporate in drawings.

 

Skills and Qualifications

  • Masters degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline required,  or four to ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to create, read and interpret engineering drawings related to electrical floor plans, wiring diagrams, rack elevations, and riser diagrams, using applicable software such as AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks, Bluebeam, SKM or other relevant engineering software. Strong proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite required; Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
  • Knowledge of National Electrical Code (NEC) and International Building Codes (IBC) desired.
  • Strongly motivated, well organized, and shows professional initiative. Ability to multitask on multiple projects and work independently. Ability to work in a fast-paced and challenging environment. Strong written and verbal communication skills (English).
  • Local candidates preferred. Ability to provide valid work authorization for US employment required.
