Role Summary
The Field Safety Officer is required to provide field safety support for their assigned area of responsibility, taking necessary measures when appropriate to mitigate, mentor and escalate to ensure safety is always a priority and process/procedures are followed. We anticipate this role will involve a minimum of 70% spent in the field.

Role and Responsibilities
Project Execution

  • Build on working relationship with Client & DPS Team, ensuring all personnel comply with project EHS
  • Ensure all legislative requirements are met and that all DPS/Client EHS policies and procedures are adequately implemented and enforced.
  • Provide coaching/mentoring to any/all contractors/vendors and their management
  • Provide EHS support to all functional areas and PIT's as and when required.
  • Attending/Host various meetings including Project Steering | EHS | PIT | All Hands

Field Assessments

  • Execute Daily SPA audits and SBO’s | Weekly impact mitigation compliance audits.
  • Execute weekly project compliance audit, provide feedback to trades/vendors, and drive issues to closure.
  • Assist in trade waste and environmental queries and monitor compliance with waste segregation requirements.
  • Perform field evaluation of any task/ equipment as requested
  • Review and approve eSIPPS as required.
  • Support field evaluations of proposed alternative means and methods for performing work (any deviations to Intel requirements)
  • Review compliance with Permit to Work and all associated task-specific Permits.

Injury Free Workplace (IFW)

  • Assume a leadership role through coaching/mentoring/teaching, leading by example, and developing new ideas/programs to further the Injury Free Culture.
  • Be proactive and intervene when necessary to bring about improvements, change of mindset, direction or methods of work.
  • Assist with the completion of weekly EHS reports and weekly communications
  • Ensure timely reporting of all incidents, accidents, ITP's and near misses.
  • Integrated member for incident investigation and AAR's

EHS Indicators

  • Ensure both leading and lagging performance indicators are in place, tracked, and used to effectively manage performance trends.
  • Capable of evaluating current performance indicators and implementing corrective actions, as necessary, to ensure project performance improvements.
  • Develop daily SMBWA schedule, collate results and drive issues to closure.
  • Active user of ConstructSecure software

Training

  • Develop and deliver EHS training material as required by project need to ensure all trade/vendors and management personnel are adequately aware of all safety requirements and performance expectations.
  • Maintain training matrix and monitor compliance.
  • Attend professional development events and stay current with best practices and the latest software technology.

Education & Experience:

  • Third Level in Occupational Health & Safety
  • Minimum 2-3 years experience in a similar role, ideally with a background in the construction industry
  • Experience in environmental work and relevant memberships an advantage e.g. IOSH
  • Previous experience in Project Supervisor Design Process / Project Supervisor Construction Stage advantageous
  • Thorough knowledge of current environmental health and safety legislation.
  • Advanced Microsoft packages including Word/ Excel/PowerPoint.
  • Strong organisational and multitasking skills, attention to detail, and reporting skills.
  • Flexibility to work in an environment of multiple projects and varying workloads.

Other:

Travel:  Site Based in Kildare near Dublin.  Working hours: 45 hours, Monday to Friday
