Position Summary
Our German business is growing, and we are seeking a Commercial Director to lead a team of commercial and project managers. Your role will lead on the formation of effective category / commercial strategies, contract procurement, commercial administration of contracts during the execution phase to help support the safe delivery of value for money solutions of our client’s programme, projects and business objectives.

Our Client will spend more than 30 billion euros ($33 billion) to develop two chip-making plants in Magdeburg as part of its expansion plans in Europe.

The core focus is to assist and support the Client team initially through rigorous procurement planning, supply chain management, Tender Evaluation, negotiation, recommendation, and award process. Support the Client team in the successful delivery of a large Capital investment project.

Key Responsibilities
Responsibilities shall include but not limited to:

  • Develops and manages internal and external relationships to provide sustainable cost, quality, availability and technology solutions while adhering to procurement policies.
  • Partners with a diverse stakeholder base to lead and develop multiyear commodity strategies based on business/market intelligence, long term analysis of the category/commodity and the supply ecosystem.
  • Acquires and maintains industry, market and technical knowledge of commodities.
  • Leads supplier sourcing, selection and performance management.
  • Negotiates purchasing contracts, statement of works and pricing for goods and/or services.
  • Drives cost saving opportunities in partnership with suppliers and stakeholders to meet business objectives.
  • Develop new supply chain models for new or existing products or services.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, or related field   with 10+ years of related management experience on Financial Analysis, Contract Management Budgeting & Planning, forecasting and business modeling.
  • Relevant professional qualification or chartered status with a relevant professional institution
  • Multiple years of demonstrated strategic and people leadership, Program management in large scale construction industry will be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • German and English fluency required.

Essential Skills

  • Exemplary leadership, vendor and stakeholder management skills
  • Strong leadership, business partnership, written/verbal communication and analytical skills are a must to ensure alignment with internal customers, peers, and suppliers.
  • Knowledge and expertise in Construction, Facilities, Fab Technology, Quality and Lean are strongly desirable.
  • Expertise in program management
  • Experience of the full lifecycle of contracts, including negotiation of contracts on Capital investment project tenders.
  • Ability to deliver clear and accurate detail in a timely basis.
